Bergsteigen in Bolivien Hohe Vulkane über 6000m with Uturuncu, Acotango and Parinacota

Bolivia’s Extremes: Three 6,000-Meter Peaks, the Salar de Uyuni and Ice Volcanoes

This 22-day mountaineering expedition is a multifaceted journey to Bolivia’s natural superlatives. The tour begins with cultural acclimatization at Lake Titicaca and in the Yungas around Coroico. The main focus is on the ascent of three impressive 6,000-meter peaks: the accessible Uturuncu (6,008 m), Parinacota (6,342 m), and Acotango (6,052 m). One of the highlights is the crossing of the Salar de Uyuni and its surreal landscapes with colorful lagoons and flamingos. An intense adventure that perfectly combines culture, desert scenery, and demanding high-altitude mountaineering.

22-Day Expedition Tour Through the Bolivian Highlands

We explore the astonishing natural and cultural diversity of Bolivia and the central Altiplano: the legendary Lake Titicaca, the ruins of Tiwanaku, Sajama National Park, and the Salar de Uyuni, the largest salt flat on Earth. From a mountaineering perspective, the three 6,000-meter peaks Uturuncu (6,008 m), Acotango (6,052 m), and the ice-clad volcano Parinacota (6,342 m), as well as the fascinating Condoriri group, form the highlights of this circular journey.

Highlights: Lake Titicaca, Salar de Uyuni, La Paz, Coroico and Potosí

We arrive in La Paz, at 3,500 meters the highest seat of government in the world. After an extensive city tour, we undertake excursions into the surrounding area, including visits to the legendary Lake Titicaca, the ruins of Tiwanaku, and the world’s highest ski resort at Chacaltaya.

Ascents of Uturuncu, Acotango and Parinacota

Later, we relocate to southern Bolivia near Uyuni to explore the Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat. Here we climb Uturuncu (6,008 m), a perfectly shaped volcanic cone rising nearly 6,000 meters. A few days later, we ascend our second 6,000-meter peak, the dormant volcano Acotango (6,052 m). In Sajama National Park, we climb the magnificent ice volcano Parinacota (6,342 m). We travel along the world’s most dangerous pass road to Coroico and conclude with a visit to the impressive Condoriri group. At the end of our Bolivian circuit, we return to La Paz.

An Unforgettable Journey – Trekking and Mountains in Bolivia’s High Andes

This 21-day adventure takes you deep into Bolivia’s Cordillera Real, far away from well-trodden paths. The journey begins at the culturally rich Lake Titicaca, providing ideal acclimatization. The main objective is the ascent of the rarely climbed Chachacomani (6,074 m), one of Bolivia’s most beautiful six-thousand-meter peaks. You will experience intense moments in pristine nature, hike through wild glacier landscapes, and encounter the traditional culture of the Aymara people. For especially ambitious participants, an optional extension to the mighty Ancohuma is available.
A true high-mountain adventure for experienced trekkers seeking the silence of the Andes.

21-Day Trekking Expedition – Bolivia Off the Beaten Track

This journey uniquely combines highland culture, glaciated landscapes, and major Andean summits.

From the legendary Isla del Sol on Lake Titicaca, the route leads through the wild Cordillera Real to the 6,000-meter summit of Chachacomani (6,074 m)—one of the region’s most beautiful yet least climbed peaks. Afterwards follows Bolivia’s third-highest mountain, Ancohuma.

Along the way, you can expect varied trekking stages with glacier views, turquoise lagoons, remote high camps, and cultural encounters with the Aymara people. The technically easy to moderate ascents are ideal for well-acclimatized trekkers with high-altitude experience. However, experience with ice axe and crampons is required, as both 6,000-meter peaks involve long glacier crossings.

Optional Extension: Laguna Glaciar & Ancohuma Summit Attempt

For particularly ambitious participants, an extension to Sorata with an ascent to Laguna Glaciar and a summit attempt on Ancohuma is possible. A perfect finale for those seeking a genuine high-mountain experience.

This Bolivia journey is far more than a classic trekking tour—it is an intense nature and cultural experience in one of South America’s most spectacular mountain regions. Without crowds and without haste, we explore one of the world’s most impressive alpine landscapes and climb two rarely visited 6,000-meter giants above the Altiplano.

Experience the silence of untouched glaciers and the authentic culture of the Aymara.
From Lake Titicaca to the glacial giants of the Cordillera Real—trekking in the northern Cordillera Real, including Chachacomani and Ancohuma.
